Elyssebeth
Leigh
Elyssebeth teaches how to design, facilitate and manage simulations
and games as learning tools. She also conducts action learning/action
research programs for industry and researches the processes whereby
those who do the work can be involved in improving work contexts.
Her classes challenge adult students to explore their behaviour
in teaching and learning contexts through the use of simulations
and structured experiences that represent their own varied life
contexts. She has been involved in adult learning contexts for more
than twenty years as a teacher, trainer, human resources manager,
and consultant and - most recently - as an academic.
Research Areas:
Facilitation of extended simulations; the emotional fabric of relationships
in extended simulations; the design, selection and management of
action research projects in work places; the issues involved in
facilitation of simulations as open-ended (chaordic) learning contexts.
She is also engaged in research and development of support strategies
for IT skills and knowledge for Education Faculty staff.
Community and Professional Activities:
Elyssebeth is president-elect of ISAGA (International Simulation
and Games Association). She is a member of Women and Management
and is active in the NSW branch of ALARPM the Action Learning, Action
Research and Process Management Association.
