Winner of the Blackboard Research Grant for 2008:

Matthew Campbell, Lecturer (Professional and Educational Studies), School of Education (NSW), Australian Catholic University.

Project Title: Using virtual world technologies to improve the professional decision-making capacities of pre-graduate teachers.

The project addressed the following research questions:

  • How can virtual world technologies be used to improve student engagement in learning in higher education?
  • What benefits can be realised in the education of professional ethics through the use of virtual world technologies?
  • What are some of the hindrances to the use of virtual world technologies as a learning and teaching tool in higher education?

Project Title: ICTs in the daily lives of Australian Students: A Pilot Study.

2006

Project Title: E-teachers at work: exploring a process and framework for reviewing e-teaching which provides ongoing professional learning in the e-education environment.

2005

In 2005 the ascilite Research Grant enabled the development of a showcase of innovations in online assessment. A collection of eight case studies resulted from a collaborative development of Southern Cross University and the University of Wollongong.
